" The Owl Plate Collection" a magnificent series of 8 plates by the World famous Boehm Studios was hand crafted from some of the finest porcelain in the world English bone china and was fired at Boehm kilns in Malvem, England, issued by The Hamilton Collection. They measured a full 10-½ inch in diameter; they were issued in a single edition and limited to 15,000 plates worldwide and a firm limit of one of each plate per collector. They are double boxed with brochure. Plates have never been displayed and in mint condition.

"The Boreal Owl" first plate in the series epitomizes what the mind conjures up when the word "Owl" is mentioned. He looks like a toy, and the fact that he is earless helps the illusion. His head is flat-topped and even slightly concaved and his forehead is spotted with white dots. His heavy lidded, sleepy look perfectly fits the millennia- old concept of "wise old owl".

"The Snowy Owl" second plate in the series, the perfunctory dreamer among all owls. Okpik, as the Eskimos call him, is one of the two largest owls and reminds one of an owlish Colonel Blimp. His dreamy, innocent stare out of unblinking yellow eyes and his almost droopy moustache are what create the effect.

"The Barn Owl" third plate in the series, the ghostly owl he lives in old buildings, unused silos, half-demolished barns and sheds. And no matter how dark the night, (he roosts by day), his light underpants and light undersides of his wings produce an eerie effect, making his wavering flight seem like the flutter of a shroud.

" The Saw Whet Owl" fourth plate in the series, his song sounds like a metal file being drawn in sharpening strokes across the teeth of a saw. He is the smallest of the eastern owls, but his fluffy feathering, large head and surprising wingspread create the illusion of a much larger bird.

"The Great Horned Owl" Fifth plate in the series, along with the Snowy Owl, he is the largest of the Owls. His ears tuffs or "horns" give him the look of the devil, and his fierce hunting skills and extreme power earn him the sobriquet," the tiger of the woods". His stare is truly regal; he is truly impressive.

"The Screech Owl" the sixth plate in the series, his wavering, tremulous cry is certainly the scariest of them all. But he is a comic, too, as he alternately blinks one eye, then the other. Like the Great Horned Owl, he is fierce, even though smaller than a robin; and he is a good fisherman, too. His eyes slant upwards at a steep angle, from his beak toward his ears, adding a menacing look.

"The Short Eared Owl" the seventh plate in the series, the heavy, almost neck less head and two spots, one dark on the top side, one light on the underside of each wing, are the distinctive characteristics of this fair sized owl. A late afternoon and evening hunter, he is an efficient mouser. Encircled in black, his yellow eyes create a startling effect.       

"The Barred Owl" the eighth plate in the series, the fourth largest and perhaps noisiest of the owls, he has a truly distinctive call, far more like barking than the hushed and muffed "Hoos" one is accustomed to. His look is impressive with his barred ruff that creates a double chin look, his deep brown eyes, and canary yellow beak.
